What we collect

The 3AM Feed is designed to be as anonymous as possible. When you use the app:

  • We create an anonymous session using Supabase Anonymous Auth. No email, no password, no personal information is required.
  • We generate a random handle (e.g., "SleepyPenguin") that is not linked to your real identity.
  • We store the content you post (submissions, comments, reactions) in our database.
  • We use localStorage in your browser to maintain your session and remember preferences (like dismissing the intro card).
  • Our hosting provider (Cloudflare) may collect standard server logs including IP addresses, which are not linked to your anonymous identity.

What we do not collect

  • Email addresses
  • Real names
  • Location data
  • Device identifiers
  • Usage analytics or tracking pixels (we do not use Google Analytics or similar services)

How we use your data

Your submissions, comments, and reactions are displayed publicly on the feed. Your anonymous handle appears alongside your posts. We use reaction data to power the weekly Hall of Fame.

Data storage

Data is stored in Supabase (hosted on AWS). Your anonymous session is stored in your browser's localStorage. Clearing your browser data will end your session and you will receive a new anonymous identity.

Cookies and local storage

We do not use cookies for tracking. We use localStorage solely for:

  • Maintaining your anonymous session
  • Remembering if you've dismissed the welcome card

No third-party cookies or tracking technologies are used.

Third parties

We do not sell, share, or transfer your data to any third parties. Our infrastructure providers (Supabase, Cloudflare) process data solely to provide the service.

Your rights

Since we do not collect personal information, most data protection rights (access, correction, deletion under GDPR/CCPA) apply in a limited way. If you clear your browser data, your session is permanently lost and cannot be recovered. If you want your content removed, contact us at the email below.

Children

The 3AM Feed is not intended for users under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from minors.

Changes

We may update this policy. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
